The Lions are a youth basketball program located in the City of Lauderhill. The program is open to children ages 7-16 years old. They practice and play their games at the Sadkin Community Center. The City hosts a recreational league and also a travel program.
This program focuses on academics and athletics while competing against local, regional, and national competition. All participants must maintain good grades and positive behavior in the classroom and on the court. Participants who do well in the classroom and on the court are eligible for scholarships through the City of Lauderhill's Sports Advancing Kids Education program.
Registration information is generally available by November/December of each year. The cost for the recreation program is $75 per child (for Lauderhill residents) and $100 per child (for non-Lauderhill residents). Official practices begin in December/January. The City has partnered with ABC Basketball for a Youth Basketball Fundamental Skills Development program. The program will include strength & conditioning and speed & agility. The program will run from October 2, 2018 to November 15, 2018. The program will be hosted on Tuesdays at St. George Park (3501 NW 8th Street - 954-791-1039), Wednesdays at Windermere Community Center (1818 NW 54th Terrace - 954-714-3238), and Thursdays at West Ken Lark Park (1321 NW 33rd Avenue - 954-791-1034). Ages 8-12 begin at 5:00pm and Ages 13-15 begin at 6:00pm. Both groups are limited to 15 spaces per age group. Please bring a copy of your birth certificate, proof of insurance, and proof of residency.
