COLOR GUIDELINES                FREE PAINT PROGRAM

 

ALL buildings, structures, and fences (except chain link or pressure treated wood) shall be painted and maintained in good condition

 

Multi-Family Residential and Commercial

  • No review required to repaint the same colors (provided that existing paint colors are in compliance with City approved Color Guidelines)
  • Review required to change colors (see Application below)

 

Single-Family Detached Homes

  • No review required to paint (provided that base color is neutral and there is no more than one non-neutral accent color, following City approved Color Guidelines)
  • Review required to paint a non-neutral base/wall color or more than one non-neutral trim color (see Application below)
  • Overall paint theme shall not exceed three colors
    • One base/wall color for the building, walls, fences (shall all be the same color)
    • Two trim or accent colors (ex. front door, garage door, columns, shutters, architectural design elements, etc.)
    • Window frames, roofs, and stone/brick facades, as well as pressure-treated wood fences and chain-link fences, are not subject to these paint regulations unless they are painted

Application

Community Appearance Application is required to paint a non-neutral base/wall color or more than one non-neutral trim color on a single-family home or to change colors on a multi-family or non-residential building.

Below are instructions to apply:

Fee

  • $750 Application Processing Fee

Page 1

  • Disregard "Pre-Application Meeting" step in Application Review Process
  • Provide the following PAPER documents
    • Complete Application with notarized Affidavit
    • Letter(s) of Authorization (if applicable)
    • Copy of Deed
    • Two (2) 8.5" x 11" color photos of EXISTING colors
    • Two (2) 8.5" x 11" color renderings of PROPOSED colors
    • Color chart indicating paint manufacturer, color names, color numbers, and indicating which part of the building the colors will be applied
    • Two (2) sets of physical paint chips for all proposed colors
  • Provide the following DIGITAL documents (by email or USB)
    • Application with Affidavit
    • Letter(s) of Authorization
    • Deed
    • Photos of EXISTING colors
    • Renderings of PROPOSED colors
    • Color chart

Page 2 (much of this does not apply to paint permits)

  • Check "Paint" (as long as no physical/structural changes are being made)
  • Complete "Property Description" section
  • Complete "Landowner" section
  • Only complete "Applicant" section if person applying is not the property owner

Page 4 (optional)

  • Enter contractor information if applicable, and if you want the contractor to be included in correspondence

Page 5

  • Complete "Site Data" section
  • Complete "Additional Information" section (if applicable)

Page 6

  • Notarize "Affidavit"
