Commissioner Ken Thurston started the Green Series the very first year he was elected by the residents of Lauderhill. The Green Series includes classes that help residents with planting gardens, maintaining lawns, growing lawns, plants and trees, selecting edible gardens for your home/condo, and general irrigation techniques.
All classes are located in the Multi-Purpose Rooms at City Hall, 5581 West Oakland Park Boulevard, 33313. Check our Lauderhill Event Calendar for upcoming dates and times.

Lauderhill, Florida – 9/17/18 - 5:00 PM – Lauderhill Commissioner Ken Thurston will host a Green Series Class on Thursday, September 20th , featuring Michael Madfis on “Seasonal Gardening: Understanding What Should Be Planted and When for a Beautiful Fall Garden!”
“This is the start of the 8th year of the FREE Green Series and we are happy to continue to bring information and presenters that the Lauderhill community enjoys. We are excited to announce that we have Michael Madfis, who is one of the speakers from our very first year, returning to kick things off with a very informative presentation on Seasonal Urban Gardening. Michael’s roots begin as an architect and he has since transitioned to Urban Gardening. We look forward to Michael sharing his wealth of knowledge for this educational and fun presentation,” says Commissioner Ken Thurston.
The “Seasonal Urban Gardening” class will begin at 6:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room at City Hall (5581 W. Oakland Park Boulevard). The class is FREE and open to the public. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Light refreshments will be provided to those in attendance and there will be great giveaways!”
