About the Mayor
Denise D. Grant, Mayor of the City of Lauderhill and a distinguished Jamaican-American leader, exemplifies servant leadership and strategic policymaking grounded in a profound commitment to community empowerment and sustainable development. She holds degrees in Organizational Leadership and International Relations, complemented by certifications in Cultural Diversity and Diplomacy, Communications, and Business Management. As a certified speaker, her communication expertise underpins her capacity to inspire collaborative progress.
Before ascending to her current role, Mayor Grant served as Director of Operations and Business Development at a boutique commercial litigation law firm, leveraging her acumen in legal and business strategy. Her prior professional experience includes influential tenures at McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Trinity Broadcasting Network, where she honed her skills in strategic advisory, organizational transformation, and stakeholder engagement.
Throughout her career, Mayor Grant has contributed to key initiatives within national and regional civic organizations, including the National League of Cities Human Development Committee, the Florida League of Cities Federal Strike Team, the Broward County Water Advisory Board, and Broward Black Elected Officials. She currently serves as a Director for Sister Cities International and the Broward League of Cities, reflecting her commitment to global and regional civic engagement.
Recognized internationally, Mayor Grant received the Sustainable Development Goals Leadership Award from the United Nations, underscoring her dedication to aligning local initiatives with global sustainability objectives. Her extensive achievements are a testament to her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to advancing community resilience and economic vitality.
As a public servant, Mayor Grant’s leadership philosophy is anchored in service, innovation, and strategic partnership. Since her election as Mayor in November 2025—following her tenure as Vice Mayor and City Commissioner beginning in 2018—she has driven initiatives that foster economic growth, infrastructural resilience, and social equity.
Her collaborative efforts with the Florida Bankers Association facilitated access to capital for 2,500 Lauderhill businesses, mobilizing a $30 million funding pool and earmarking $2 million to support local residents and entrepreneurs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she spearheaded targeted programs including senior nutrition initiatives, small business recovery efforts, community health drives, and cultural revitalization projects. Her initiatives continue to improve the health, safety and economic development of Lauderhill.
Mayor Grant’s leadership has yielded tangible improvements—enhanced safety protocols, revitalized economic ecosystems, infrastructural advancements, and environmentally conscious policies. Her initiatives include the creation of the Lauderhill Vision Plan, the oversight of the 40-year Building Inspection program, and programs aimed at fostering homeownership, reducing taxes, and promoting community safety and beautification.
Her commitment to public service has been recognized through numerous awards and accolades, yet her greatest pride remains her role as a mother to 17 year old Joshua Israel Grant.
