Lauderhill Peace Month
Peace Is More Than a Moment, It’s a Movement
Throughout the month of June, the City of Lauderhill invites residents, families, youth, faith leaders, community partners, and local organizations to join us for Peace Month 2026, a month-long movement dedicated to promoting nonviolence, healing, unity, and community safety.
Led by Commissioner Melissa P. Dunn and powered by the Lauderhill Peace365 movement, Peace Month is part of a year-round commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more connected Lauderhill. Through these efforts we hope to bring the community together and provide meaningful programming to honor lives impacted by violence, empower youth and families, support healing, and emphasize a shared responsibility for peace.
June is also recognized nationally as Gun Violence Awareness Month, making this an important time to stand together against violence, support survivors and families, and recommit to creating positive pathways forward for our residents.

Peace in Me Virtual Conversations
Peace begins within each of us. The Peace in Me virtual conversation series will create space for meaningful dialogue around healing, emotional wellness, conflict resolution, community safety, and what it means to be a peacebuilder at home, at school, in the workplace, and in the neighborhood.
These conversations will be shared virtually through Commissioner Melissa P. Dunn’s digital platforms and will feature community voices, subject-matter experts, and local partners.

Youth Peace Engagement
Peace Month also includes opportunities to uplift youth leadership and give young people tools to become ambassadors for peace in their schools, homes, and communities.
Youth engagement may include peace pledges, student reflections, art and healing activities, youth leadership moments, and participation from schools, clubs, and community organizations committed to nonviolence and positive development.
Why Peace365 Matters
Peace is more than a single event, walk, or month. Peace365 is Lauderhill’s ongoing commitment to building a culture of peace every day of the year.
Through community partnerships, youth empowerment, public safety collaboration, wellness resources, civic engagement, and resident-led action, Peace365 works to prevent violence, promote healing, and strengthen the bonds that keep neighborhoods connected.
Peace Month is one important part of this larger movement — a time to gather, reflect, remember, organize, and recommit to the work of peace.
