John T as he is affectionately called, was born in, Jamaica, and attended William Knibb Memorial High School, the school of the great Usain Bolt.

After establishing a solid academic foundation, John T embarked on a fulfilling career in law enforcement. His dedication and determination led him to excel within the police force, where he rose through the ranks to become a detective sergeant in the Criminal Investigating Branch (C.I.B.). For 13 years, including two years as a Close Protective Officer for the Prime Minister of Jamaica, John served his country with utmost integrity and commitment.

While serving as a detective, he skillfully balanced his roles in broadcasting and law enforcement. His seamless transition to a full-time radio broadcaster in Fort Lauderdale, Florida highlights his adaptability and enthusiasm for public service and community engagement.

Broadcasting for John T is more than just a job. His informative and entertaining radio show on WAVS 1170am has made him an iconic figure in the industry and a household name in South Florida. He’s been awarded Radio Personality of the Year twice and has earned various community service, cultural, and Icon awards. Notably, he received the Cultural Icon award from the City of Miami Gardens and, most recently in 2023, the Carib Media Award for outstanding service to the community and the Media Industry.

He has lived in Lauderhill for over 22 years and has always been involved in community service. John T is a past president of the Jamaica Ex-Police Association, based in Lauderhill and serves through programs and events such as: Scholarships, financial assistance for persons in need, and organizing workshops and panel discussions, including a panel where Broward County Judges responded to questions about various areas of the court system and provided guidance for persons who may want to become a Judge or serve in other areas of the legal system.

Kiwanis has been an integral part of John T’s community service efforts for over 23 years. As a dedicated Kiwanian, he has assumed various leadership roles, contributing his skills and expertise to numerous programs. These include supporting SOS Children Homes in South Florida, facilitating valuable scholarships, organizing citizenship drives, and providing meaningful assistance to kids with disabilities. Through his involvement with Kiwanis, John T demonstrates his tireless commitment to serving the community.

After devoting decades to service through his career and various organizations, John T is now acting in the role of city commissioner seat #1 to further elevate the quality of life, work, and family in Lauderhill. As a Commissioner with a strong focus on residents, he is determined to foster a thriving and inclusive environment that embraces all members of the community.

John T’s platform focuses on youth development, public safety, senior residents, business and community development, as well as fiscal responsibility and accountability.

John T is a true sports enthusiast dedicated to supporting the existing athletic programs in Lauderhill as well as introducing new programs designed to encourage active lifestyles for both the young and young at heart. John T’s unwavering commitment to helping others makes him ideal to represent the residents of Lauderhill.
