The City of Lauderhill Names Three Finalists for Chief of Police

Lauderhill, FL (September 1, 2026) — The City of Lauderhill has selected three finalists for Chief of Police and will host a community breakfast and moderated forum on Wednesday, Sept. 9, giving residents, community leaders and stakeholders an opportunity to meet the candidates and provide feedback directly to City Manager Kennie Hobbs, Jr.

The finalists will participate in a two-day selection process on Sept. 8 and 9. The second day will be open to the public and credentialed members of the news media.

Community Breakfast & Moderated Forum

The community is invited to meet the three finalists during a community breakfast beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a moderated forum from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m.

The forum will be moderated by Dr. Cedric Alexander. Questions will be collected from the community in advance, with several questions also taken from the audience.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to provide feedback through a brief community survey. A QR code and printed feedback forms will be available at the event, with City staff available to assist.

Meet the Finalists

Easton L. McDonald
Former Chief of Police, Lancaster City Bureau of Police, Pennsylvania
McDonald brings 28 years of law enforcement experience, including executive leadership with the Lancaster City Bureau of Police, Alexandria Police Department and Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Richard Perez, M.P.S.
Police Commander, Strategic Planning, Performance & Special Projects, Miami Police Department
Perez is a 30-year public safety executive and former First Assistant Chief of Police and second-in-command of the Miami Police Department.

Angel D. Rivera
Assistant Chief of Police, North Miami Police Department
Rivera has more than 26 years of service with the North Miami Police Department, including more than a decade in executive leadership and service as Interim Chief of Police.

Community Feedback Matters

Community input will be considered as part of the final selection process. Feedback submitted at the Sept. 9 forum will be routed directly to City Manager Kennie Hobbs, Jr.

Next Steps

The finalists were selected following a nationwide executive recruitment. The Chief of Police position was posted June 2-26, 2026, and candidates were interviewed from June 30 through Aug. 24.

Following the two-day finalist process and a review of community feedback, City Manager Kennie Hobbs, Jr. is expected to select a finalist by Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. A comprehensive background process will then begin.

The City anticipates an overlap period between the incoming Chief and Chief Constance Stanley before her retirement in November 2026.
