Protect yourself from being a victim of fraud and identity theft.

If you receive an email or text message from a service provider or banking institution that was NOT initiated by you...

Do not click any links! Do not enter personal information! Do not use the contact information found in the suspicious message (could be a trap)!

Scammers will often “spoof” caller ID or email addresses so that it appears as though you are receiving a call, email, or text message from a legitimate provider. The emails look real and use the company logo. When in doubt, call the service provider by using the phone number on a past bill or on the back of your credit or debit card to verify the message’s authenticity.

Secure Yourself

  • Sign up for two-step authentication on personal accounts online including any social media pages.
  • While out of town, wait until you’ve return to post on social.
  • Change your passwords frequently, and use complex suggestions that include letters, number, and special characters.
  • Monitor your accounts regularly for any suspicious activity, unauthorized charges, or changes to your information.
