The Lauderhill Police Department Special Projects Unit (SPU) received information back at the end of 2021 regarding narcotic sales activity at the location of 3511 NW 2nd Street. SPU detectives conducted a steadfast surveillance across several days, on account of the criminal history of the people located there.
The subjects tried to keep a low profile for a time, but it came to an end when the subjects were caught making a narcotic sales transaction. SPU detectives verified that the individuals of the sale matched the names of the residents, who were known to have criminal histories. During the months of February and March of 2022, SPU detectives conducted covert narcotic purchases at the house. Having evidence of cocaine sales, Detective Hasson obtained a search warrant.
On April 7th, 2022, for about an hour, SPU maintained their surveillance of the house. Detectives watched as one of the subjects, Michael Williams, made 10-15 narcotics sales. Several customers arrived by car and on foot and they would approach Williams, who sat under a canopy along the side of the residence. For each customer, Williams was seen briefly enter the house, return to the canopy, and take payment in exchange for the illegal substances. The search warrant was executed by the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) SWAT team.
As BSO SWAT executed the search warrant, there were four individuals sitting under the canopy who were detained. Eric James was one of the four people, and when he was detained, SPU detectives located a small bag of narcotics in the pocket of his shorts. The narcotics later tested positive for MDMA, and he was charged accordingly. From outside, BSO SWAT instructed the other occupants to exit the house. Some time passed before Michael Williams finally exited the residence.
SPU and BSO Gang Unit proceeded to search the residence, only to discover a small amount of cocaine. Detectives suspect Michael Williams took a long time to exit the residence because he was busy trying to flush the majority of the narcotics down the drains so when BSO SWAT arrived, it could not be located. Even though Michael Williams is a 7-time convicted felon, detectives located a 9-mm firearm in Williams’ bedroom, and he was charged accordingly. Detective Hasson contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives based on the evidence recovered and Michael Williams’s criminal history, which might result in Michael Williams a federal charge for Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.
After the residence was cleared, (1) Zigana PX 9-mm Firearm, 0.6 grams of MDMA, 0.5 grams of Cocaine, and a total of six individuals had been detained.
