Hello Lauderhill Family!
I hope this edition of the Chief’s Message finds you well.
One of the messages that I advocate is the importance of family. The officers and staff of your Lauderhill Police Department are a family just like yours, and we refer to ourselves as a “Blue Family.” In the realm of public safety, we have our brothers and sisters at Lauderhill Fire Rescue, who we call our “Red Family”. Over the last two years, a lot of new faces joined the Red and Blue families. Even though we work side by side to serve the needs of our community, we do not get to build personal relationships that help strengthen our unity as one blended family.
But!... much like with any family, we have some friendly rivalries to bring us closer!
This past Sunday, April 3rd, the brothers and sisters of Lauderhill Police and Fire Rescue came together in the 1st Annual Battle of the Badges! So, the Blue faced off against the Red in a series of both team and individual events from agility races, push-ups and sit-ups to Tug-O-War, kickball, and volleyball.
This event provided an opportunity for many of the new fire and police personnel to get to know each other in a fun, yet competitive environment. It was an exciting day that ended with breaking bread at a cook-out.
After a few challenges and friendly disputes over who "ACTUALLY" won, the presentation of the Champion’s Medal was made to the brothers and sisters of Lauderhill Fire Rescue! I bet we won't hear the end of it.
The Red team may have taken the gold in 2022, but rest assured that your Lauderhill Police Department is already training for next years' Battle of the Badges!
