Hello Lauderhill Family:

Well, here we are! Another holiday season has arrived! It is so nice to see more and more folks out and about, interacting with each other throughout our neighborhoods. The ups and downs of the last year might have been tough, but looking back, I think it has made us humbled for all that we have been blessed with.

In returning to our normal interactions, I ask that you remain vigilant, especially during this time of year. There are those who will take advantage of our trust for personal gain. Whether you choose to shop online or in person, guard yourself against becoming a cybersecurity victim. The simplest measures will frustrate thieves and can keep us safe.

When running errands and shopping, remember not to leave items in plain sight in your vehicle. Instead, secure them in the trunk. When walking to and from your vehicle, look around and take notice of anyone or anything that seems out of place. Be cautious of using public, open Wi-Fi, and track your shipments being delivered to your home or office so that they are not left out and become a temptation for porch pirates.

By avoiding these headaches, you each can focus fully on what matters most during the holidays! The Lauderhill Police Department (LPD) hopes to bring joy to the children in our community by continuing our traditions, like Shop with a Cop and Secret Santa! The LPD force will visit several elementary schools in the city and reward the two students who demonstrate hard work and citizenship with with a bicycle and a $50 gift card. In fact, Santa and his elves have cleared their schedules to help us out... BUT our Criminal Investigations Unit has revealed that the Grinch may try to sneak in again this year, so we need to keep a look out!
