City of Lauderhill Officials Rename a Street in West Ken Lark After Janie McCutcheon For Her Contributions to Her Community 

Lauderhill, FL – December 13, 2021 – 6:00 PM – City of Lauderhill Mayor Ken Thurston, Vice Mayor Melissa P. Dunn, Commissioner Denise D. Grant, Commissioner Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin, and Commissioner S. “Ray” Martin unanimously voted to change the name of NW 17th Court to Janie McCutcheon Court. This Street Renaming and Celebration will take place on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 10:00 am on the corner of NW 17th Court and NW 34th Terrace. All are welcome to attend this memorable occasion.

Members of the West Ken Lark (WKL) Community petitioned City Officials to rename the street after Janie McCutcheon earlier this year. Ms. McCutcheon was a long-time resident of the WKL area. Residents in the community believed that Janie had left such an impact on the residents in the neighborhood that renaming the street she lived on would be fitting for all of her contributions.

Jenean Way, Vice President of the West Ken Lark Homeowners’ Association led the efforts to dedicate the street after Janie McCutcheon. Ms. Way explained that Ms. McCutcheon was a good friend and neighbor to all. She was a resident of the WKL Association since 1964 and was known to provide food to those in need. With her caring spirit, she made everyone feel they mattered. With her strong will, she provided help to anyone, anywhere who was in need.

Please join the City of Lauderhill Mayor and Commissioners in honoring Janie McCutcheon for all of her work and contributions to the residents of West Ken Lark and the City of Lauderhill. We will meet on NW 17th Court and NW 34th Terrace at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 for the Janie McCutcheon Court unveiling and dedication.
