City of Lauderhill Commissioner Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin to Serve on Public Safety & Crime Prevention Committee for the National Black Caucus - Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO)

Lauderhill, FL – March 9, 2021 – 6:00 PM – City of Lauderhill Commissioner Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin has committed to serving the residents of Lauderhill with a new position on a national platform. The National League of Cities (NLC) is a national organization comprised of city leaders who are focused on improving the quality of life for their residents and business community. The NLC is over 90 years old and is committed to strengthening local leadership while influencing federal policy with innovation and unity.

The National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO) is a group within the NLC that provides a forum for African-American Elected Officials to share ideas and discuss policy issues that ultimately improve the quality of life for their cities and residents. Commissioner Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin, newly elected in November 2020, will be serving on the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee. This federal advocacy committee helps shape policy pertaining to issues that affect local cities such as substance abuse, fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster relief, gun control and court systems.

“After 20+ years of serving as a Federal Employee in the United States Probation Department, I felt compelled to share the knowledge my job experience has given me. Now that I am retired and serving as an Elected Official, I am able to share real insight with my colleagues and help improve our community,” states Commissioner Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin. “As a life time resident of this community, I have developed a love for our residents and a passion to assist where my talents lie,” he concludes.
