Greetings Lauderhill Family:

Diving deeper into 2021, we may have gotten off-track on a few of those New Year’s resolutions we promise ourselves at the start of every new year… but not at the Lauderhill Police Department!

When we make a commitment, we stick to it. Our dedication to serve all of our residents, businesses, and visitors in the best way possible stands strong. As an example, we are ecstatic to spotlight the Police Athletic League’s (PAL) Boxing Program!

The Lauderhill Police Department teamed up with the Lauderhill Parks & Recreation Department to proudly offer the PAL Boxing Program. Taught at a full-service boxing gym outfitted with safety equipment, PAL Boxing helps our young people build self-confidence and develop perseverance. Sports have many physical benefits but boxing specifically has an emphasis on developing mental strengths, like discipline and self-control. Boxing teaches people how to achieve clarity when faced with conflict and how to manage anger and aggression. Many times, those combative inclinations are a result of personal challenges. Boxing can provide an outlet for these instincts in a controlled setting.

The sport of boxing promotes a healthy lifestyle, with proof realized both in and out of the  boxing ring. PAL Boxing provides a place for our youth to come together in a nurturing and safe environment.

We accept children (boys and girls) aged 8-17 years old. Those who qualify will be taught by licensed professionals under the guidelines of U.S.A. Boxing, with the opportunity to travel for tournaments in various cities within the country.

For me, I already see the greatest outcome: a chance to mentor and create positive bonds between the police department and the youth (and future) of our community!
