Hello Lauderhill Family:

Have you seen us out and about in your neighborhood recently? I hope that you have, and if not, Be On the Look Out (or “BOLO,” in police talk!), for us in your neighborhood soon! The City’s Unity in the Community is spearheaded by Vice Mayor Denise D. Grant, where members of the Lauderhill Police Department, City administrative staff, and elected officials visit communities. By going door-to-door, we strive to continue our efforts to maintain and create more personal and positive connections with those we serve.

We have had the opportunity to meet and talk to truly wonderful people during our walks in two neighborhoods to date: one in the St. George, and the second in Broward Estates. Next week we will visit several homes in West Ken Lark.

Our focus is to engage in an open dialogue with our residents, to discuss what their needs are, how we can meet those needs, and what services we can offer or perfect. During these walks, we provided educational tips for properly reporting crimes, recognizing Domestic Violence, fraud, scams, and general crime prevention.

Although we communicate through various means (such as Lauderhill Living), I find that face-to-face interactions, wherever possible, are most effective when trying to get a message out, and at the same time leave a lasting personal warm impression.

I ask that when you see us out and about, come talk to us, tell us what is important to you and what the needs of your own community are. I understand that each section of Lauderhill is unique; what is important to one area may not be for another. We recognize that a blanket approach is not effective. We are here to serve you to the best of our ability, and we know that dialogue is the key!

I look forward to meeting and talking with you on our Unity in the Community walks and discussing what we can do better in our efforts in “Protecting Our Community”. Until then, please stay safe!
