- Officer Yopps responded to a call of a heated altercation between two women, among them was the mother to a young child. After arriving, through the yelling, Officer Yopps noticed the little girl was scared. He was moved to brighten this child’s day and presented her with a plush pink unicorn toy from his patrol car, which he had purchased for incidents such as these. The mother was delighted about Officer Yopps’ effort to make her daughter smile. Officer Yopps makes positive impact in Lauderhill!

- Shout-Out to Lieutenant Santiago, recent graduate! Lieutenant Santiago graduated from the Command Officers Development Course! The exclusive ceremony was held at the Marriott Courtyard on December 11th. The Command Officers Development Course is a very prestigious management school. Normally a six-month course, COVID-19 pushed the course length out to nine whole months. Chief Stanley commends Lieutenant Santiago for balancing his responsibilities, which included: public information officer, supervising the Support Services Unit, organizing several city events and meetings, and excelling in school. “He made himself available and never complained…he just got things done,” commented Chief Stanley. “There were several necessary meetings with several groups and organizations that were held virtually. These were all coordinated successfully by Lieutenant Santiago. He organized the Operational plan for the Supervisor of Elections Office, which resulted with no major issues. Additionally, and most significantly, he organized the funeral arrangements for fallen Sergeant Corey Pendergrass flawlessly. This demonstrates his commitment to the City, the Police Department, and the citizens of this community.” Lieutenant Santiago, thank you for your true commitment as a leader despite the many challenges this year. Your dedication is well noted. You earned this one. Keep up the great work!
