Hello Lauderhill Family,

It is my sincere hope that each and every one of you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

I know that this has been (still is) a challenging year. Let us all be thankful for life and good health. Though celebrating the holidays this year is not what we are used to, we make the best of it and hope things will be back to normal next year.

As I go about my day, I see the hard work of those dedicated to our fellow humankind. Our officers and I are grateful for the commitment shown by the Lauderhill Police Department. Day in and day out, your LPD tends to the needs of the community, leaving a positive impact that makes a difference for today and tomorrow. We never know what kind words and small gestures mean to someone... honestly, it means so much to me.

During this holiday season, I remind you to think of people that are less fortunate than you are. If you are able, do give back. Go through your closet to pick out old clothes, make a cash or food donation, or offer your time for community service. This pandemic has kept us mostly isolated, but do not forget to check in with family, friends, and others you may not have spoken to in a while. It could make a huge difference. In the words of Melody Beattie, which goes to the heart of the holiday season:

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
