Dear Lauderhill Family!

These past few months, we have certainly faced challenging times! The COVID-19 pandemic, hurricanes, civil demonstrations, and November’s national and local elections brought forth topics that affected us, to a degree. 

More importantly though, the same issues that might have caused division also have been the catalyst to bring us together. In my “travels” (whether virtual or in person), I have had the opportunity to engage in beneficial conversations about law enforcement and the community.

At all levels within the agency, we instill the values of respect and service. We look at the diversity of Lauderhill as an opportunity to experience a different viewpoint on how we provide police services. From our start in 1994, the Lauderhill Police Department (LPD) was founded on the principle of community service. Because of that core belief, we have always enjoyed a very positive relationship with our residents. Through our many outreach programs, we continuously “bridge the gap” sometimes perceived between the public and law enforcement, to create an atmosphere in which everyone is treated with respect, understanding and protected by the law. On top of this, our day-to-day interactions truly help solidify these bonds.

When we can safely resume our community events, please come out, say hello, and get to know your officers. Many of them are assigned the same areas every day! So the next time you see one of your officers, feel free to get to know him or her. In turn, the officer will get to know you! 

You may find that what is presumed to be a difference is actually an opportunity for everyone to learn.
