The City of Lauderhill Welcomes Three New Commissioners After Yesterday’s General Election.

Lauderhill, FL – November 4, 2020 – 6:00 PM – With a record number of voters at the polls on November 3, 2020, the residents of Lauderhill elected three new City of Lauderhill Commissioners. Elected Officials, as per the Official City of Lauderhill Charter, can serve no more than three (4) year terms.

The Official “Swearing-In” of Lauderhill’s newly elected Commissioners will take place at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 12 noon. Commissioner Elect Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin will serve in Seat #1 formerly held by Vice Mayor Berger (termed), Commissioner Elect Melissa Dunn will serve in Seat #2 formerly held by Commissioner Richard Campbell, and Commissioner Elect Sarai "Ray" Martin will serve in Seat #3 formerly held by Commissioner M. Margaret Bates (termed).

“The City of Lauderhill is a vibrant City with active residents, a vivacious business community and a rich history. Three new elected officials with fresh ideas and an eagerness to serve will give our All America City an even brighter future. I look forward to supporting the new commissioners and wish our departing commissioners a happy new chapter in their lives,” stated Mayor Ken Thurston.

Commissioner Denise D. Grant explained, “As we embark upon a new chapter in the City of Lauderhill, I would like to thank our former Commissioners for their dedication and leadership to our beautiful and promising City.  Significant advancements have been accomplished because of their commitment to duty and progression. Last evening, the City gained three new commissioners. Congratulations to my colleagues Melissa Dunn, Sarai Martin and Lawrence Martin. I look forward to collaborating with them for the betterment of our community.”
