Lauderhill, FL – October 7, 2020 – 3:00 PM – The 2020-2021 fiscal year at the City of Lauderhill kicked off October 1, 2020, with a new lower millage rate for property owners.  The City of Lauderhill, at the direction of the entire commission, decreased the millage rate from 8.9898 to 8.4898.

The residents of Lauderhill asked for a tax reduction and the Commission acted swiftly.  Lower tax rates for property owners will help to ensure not only the stability of Lauderhill’s economy but help its growth.  As an elected official I was proud to help make this happen,” explains Commissioner Denise D. Grant.

“Just about everyone I have heard from welcomed a tax decrease here in the City of Lauderhill.  The Commission has been consistent in responding to the needs of the citizens,” stated Vice Mayor Howard Berger.

Additional good news for Lauderhill residents includes the Federal Court’s decision to extend the Census effort through October 31, 2020. “Lowering the tax rate is a great benefit to property owners in Lauderhill, but getting a proper Census count will only further benefit us all. We stand the chance to lose millions of dollars if we are undercounted,” explains Commissioner M. Margaret Bates, Broward County’s Complete Count Chair.

Lauderhill’s current response rate is currently at 59%. Please log on to 2020census.gov  to respond if you have not done so already.  You can also call 1-844-330-2020 to complete your Census by phone. It is safe, it is easy, and it is fast. Please do your part and answer now! Time is running out!
