Sixty of our firefighters, inspectors and administrative personnel at Station #57 were treated to boxed lunches on July 9, 2020 at noon. Lunch was donated by the For Paul Foundation, a non-profit organization established in memory of 36-year-old Paul Besaw, a paramedic who was killed in line of duty by a drunk driver on June 1, 2017.

Dawn Witherspoon, his wife, and the other members of foundation chose the Lauderhill Fire Department to show their appreciation to the men and women of the fire department in honor of her late husband, who had great respect to firefighters and to the services they provide to the community.

The For Paul Foundation is also an advocate of seatbelt safety in South Florida. To bring awareness to the importance of wearing seatbelts, the For Paul Foundation collaborates with several municipalities and government agencies to ensure prevention of avoidable tragedies.

Lauderhill’s Fire Explorers Program piqued Ms. Witherspoon’s interest! She is looking forward to further involvement with us and the students interested in becoming firefighters.
