Highlights from the Lauderhill Police Department - May 16th, 2020

On February 13th, 2019, Officer Borkowski responded to a reported vehicle on fire at 3460 NW 2nd Street.  While investigating the fire, Officer Borkowski saw Louison Augusme reach into the burned vehicle and remove a rifle, then enter a nearby home. Officer Borkowski eventually detained Augusme. Later during the investigation, Detective Coulson established probable cause to for a search warrant of the residene Augusme entered. There, the rifle was recovered along with two additional firearms. Through a records check, LPD discovered that Augusme was a convicted felon. He was arrested for the Possession of Firearms by a Convicted Felon and narcotics charges.

Detective Derek Carseni learned through an assignment with the FBI Gangs Task Force that Augusme was a documented ZMF gang member.  Through his detachment to FBI, Detective Carseni presented the case to the local Assistant United State Attorney. Augusme was federally indicted on firearm related charges by the federal government this month.
