Chief’s Message - April 2, 2020

The COVID-19 virus doesn’t spread on its own. We spread it by interaction with others.

Our elected officials have put various orders in place to restrict movement and travel. Rest assured that this is for our collective best interests.

To turn a phrase: when life hands us lemons, let’s make the best lemonade there is!

Instead of thinking of it as being stuck at home, look around and recognize what can be accomplished. We’ve often said to ourselves, “If only there were more hours in the day, I could get so much done!” Well, this is your chance, and we need to take full advantage of it!

Home-improvement projects, restarting the forgotten book, and friendly competition with a board or card game… this is a precious opportunity to engage with loved ones by doing so many different activities, right at our fingertips.

What we are dealing with will not last forever. Remember that an opportunity not taken is an opportunity lost. Make the best of this!

I request that you to limit your travel strictly for what is absolutely necessary, adhere to health and sanitation precautions, and make the most of your time while home. Navigating our lives as we sail through these troubled waters, I want you to know that the men and women of the Lauderhill Police Department are here to serve our City, and living up to the motto of “Protecting our Community” every day.
