- On August 20th, 2019, Special Projects Unit (SPU) executed a search warrant at 4160 NW 21 Street # 222 and arrested Marquis Ewing (DOB 07/28/1990) for narcotics offenses.SPU contacted the Florida Department of Agriculture and had Ewing's Concealed Weapons Permit revoked.During the search of Ewing's home, SPU and K-9 Officer Levy saw narcotics inside Ewing's vehicle parked in the parking lot of the complex. The following day, SPU executed a 2nd search warrant of Ewing's vehicle and seized rock cocaine and an assault rifle.Ewing had already been released on bond before the additional charges could be filed.Therefore, SPU detectives obtained an arrest warrant. On October 24th, 2019, SPU detectives observed Ewing entering a vehicle in the Calypso Cay community and with the assistance of Lauderhill Patrol, officers stopped and arrested Ewing.During the detention, SPU detectives discovered that Ewing was carrying a concealed firearm, despite having his license revoked.Ewing was subsequently charged with an active warrant, possession of cocaine, and carrying a concealed firearm.
- On October 9th, 2019,Special Projects Unit (SPU) detectives conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Edward Crum, discovering a large amount of marijuana inside the car.The car was seized pending a search warrant.After the order was executed, SPU detectives seized 126 grams of marijuana from the vehicle.Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Edward Crum (DOB 4/19/1989). On October 29th, 2019, SPU and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detectives worked in a joint operation to locate and arrest Edward Crum in front of 5631 NW 28th Street.During the arrest, Crum unsuccessfully attempted to throw a baggie containing 7.7 grams of rock cocaine. Crum was charged with the active warrant of possession with intent to sell cannabis and with possession with intent to sell cocaine.
- Following a three-month investigation into narcotics dealing at the Cypress Grove apartment complex, Special Projects Unit (SPU) detectives along with members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Broward Sheriff's Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (BSO SWAT) executed a search warrant on June 25, 2019 at the Cypress Grove apartment complex where a large number of narcotics and multiple guns were seized. SPU detectives have been working closely with the FBI and the Assistant US Attorney's Office to secure an indictment for the suspect, Jeffrey Paul.On October 31th, 2019, Assistant US Attorney, Juman, filed charges against Jeffrey Paul for conspiracy, possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, and felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.Paul is currently a fugitive of justice and this case has been transferred to the United States Marshal's Office to seek, find, and arrest Paul for the listed federal charges.
