TutorMate reading program
Lauderhill Fire Rescue staff partnered with Innovations for Learning & Endeavor Primary Learning Center for the reading program "TutorMate" to improve reading, vocabulary and comprehension skills of our Lauderhill children. Volunteers consisting of firefighters and administrative staff are paired every year with first-grade students for a remote 30-minute tutoring session, once per week throughout the school year.
The end of the year in- person pizza party was well received by Principal Denise Lawrence and students as you can see!
Children’s fire hats and educational activity books were handed out and volunteers closed out another successful year of learning in Lauderhill with one final reading session with students.
