Lauderhill Police Officer helps a homeless man

Officer Keechle was contacted by LifeNet, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to feeding the homeless and low-income families in the area. They requested assistance for one of their patrons who had been living in the street across from their feeding center for approximately three months.

Obliging the request, Officer Keechle met with 75-year-old Dwight Devoe who explained that he at one time was living with a niece in Fort Lauderdale but ended up homeless after she took control of his social security checks and literally left him homeless.  Officer Keechle contacted DCF’s Adult Protective Investigative Unit and filed an elder abuse report.  Mr. Devoe was subsequently placed in an Assisted Living Facility and his niece is being investigated for criminal charges by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.  A happy ending Mr. Devoe who was so very relieved to get off the streets have someone take some interest in his tragic story. Thank you Officer Keechle for your commitment to caring and going the extra mile!
