Lauderhill PD Continues to Engage Residents and Build Community

Slow Roll

The Lauderhill Police Department joined about 80 residents for the final Slow Roll bike ride of the season that started from the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center.  The event was led by Chief Stanley and Deputy Chief Siegel. As usual, we had the enthusiastic participation of Mayor Thurston and regular Slow Rollers Karen Chung and WZOP’s DJ Amejah Prophet. It was great to see St. George/Broward Estate Resident/COP Member Ms. Mary Russ-Milligan and her sister Martha Adams join the ride this month as well.  For those who made the entire route, they biked 12 miles.

Chief Stanley was especially thankful for the participation of the high school students from Lauderhill 6-12 who participated under the leadership of Ms. Rene Barnett.  Ms. Barnett took it upon herself to borrow bikes from her neighbors in order for her students to participate.  Chief Stanley commended Ms. Barnett for her actions, and coincidentally, four out of the five bicycles raffled off by the PD were won by Ms. Barnett’s students. Now, these fortunate students can Slow Roll with us on their very own bicycles!  Next time this could be you winning your own bike! See you next season!!
