Honoring Chief Constance Stanley
On January 10, 2019, Chief Constance Y. Stanley will be sworn-in as the new President of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association. She will be the first Female President of the historic and prestigious Police Chief's Association. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, during a special luncheon of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association. The Association was established to promote law enforcement coordination between the various police agencies within Broward County. It is made up of Police Department heads from City, State, Federal and other Broward County law enforcement organizations. Member meetings are chaired by a committee of officers, elected annually, consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant-at-Arms. In addition to honoring law enforcement, the Association meets to share intelligence regarding the sciences of crime prevention, detection and apprehension of perpetrators. During their monthly meetings, members discuss and evaluate ways to promote the advancement of police administration, standards of law enforcement, and crime prevention systems to bring the guilty to justice. Members also discuss updates of Florida State laws as well as municipal and Broward County ordinances to ensure that communication with lawmakers at all levels is maintained about upholding legislation that promotes citizen security and public safety processes. The Association will not endorse political candidates running for local or state office; however, if the majority of its members vote in favor, the organization may support political issues that affect law enforcement.
