Outstanding Senior Spotlight - Emma Lee Lewis

Emma Lee Lewis 

Emma Lee Lewis is the oldest active member of the Senior Silver Sneakers Program at West Ken Lark Park. Emma was born on April 9, 1926 in Plant City, Florida. She was nicknamed “Neeta” by her 2nd oldest brother. As a child she loved to play with baby dolls which enhanced her passion for children. She moved to Lauderhill on August 25, 1966. She attended an Elementary school in Jefferson County and Lincoln High school in Tallahassee. Emma was married 4 times and did not have any children. She has 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Emma is a member at New Bethel Baptist Church. Her goal was to become a teacher and she fulfilled this dream when she was blessed to manage and own Roberts Day Care Center in Hollywood for many years. She also worked as a CNA for years until she retired in 1985.

One of the most exciting times in her life is when she went to Los Angeles, CA to visit her nephew. During her spare time Emma enjoys cooking and listening to Mahalia Jackson’s gospel music. Her favorite pets are cats.
