NEWS RELEASE #9

LAUDERHILL ADMINISTRATION SHARES CLEAN  UP INFORMATION AFTER HURRICANE IRMA

As City Hall opened its doors for the first time today, there is still a tremendous amount of work around the City to accomplish before we resume normal operations. The Staff at the City of Lauderhill continue to clean up the streets and work with utility providers as well as Broward County and much has been accomplished.

Our main roads are passable, and we are focusing on cleaning up the interior streets. For now, however, all the City Parks will remain closed.

Remember, when you approach a non-working traffic light, you should treat it like a four-way stop. Please be patient and exercise extreme caution.

Garbage Pick-up has resumed on your regularly scheduled day. Recycling will start again on Monday, September 18th. STORM RELATED DEBRIS ONLY is being picked up now.  For single family homes place your debris in your swale. Condos and apartments need to place storm related debris where bulk trash is normally located. Please keep vegetative debris separated from other debris like fences and building materials. Vegetation and foliage must be piled in no larger than 10 foot portions. Regular bulk collection will resume starting in October. Check your bulk calendar as usual.  Please ask your guard gates and security companies to work with the haulers and waste companies who are picking up debris. If you have questions concerning garbage or debris, call 954-730-3000.

The Precautionary Boil Water Alert for the area bounded by NW 55 Avenue to NW 52 Avenue from NW 11 Street to NW 12 Court is still in effect. All required samples of the water in the affected area have passed the bacteriological surveys; however, a separate notification will be sent when the Precautionary Boil Water Alert has officially been rescinded. The Broward County Emergency Hotline, 311, will resume normal hours of operation beginning today and close at 5 pm. Starting tomorrow, their normal operating hours will be from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. You can continue to check Broward County’s webpage at www.broward.org/hurricane for storm related information.
