NEWS RELEASE

Renaming & Dedicating Lauderhill’s Fire Rescue Headquarters After the late Fire Chief, Edward T. Curran, Jr.

The City Commission unanimously passed a Resolution on January 26, 2015, renaming the “Lauderhill Fire Station/Fire Rescue Headquarters” to the “EDWARD T. CURRAN, JR. MAIN FIRE RESCUE HEADQUARTERS” in honor and memory of the late Chief Curran for his years of service to the City of Lauderhill.

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 10:00 am, the Mayor, Commissioners, staff and residents of the City of Lauderhill will gather on the grounds of Fire Station #57, located at 1980 NW 56th Avenue, Lauderhill, FL 33313 to Rename and Dedicate the fire building. The Ceremony will recognize the civic contributions and honorable years of service of our late Fire Chief, Edward T. Curran, Jr. and unveil the beautiful new sign where his name will remain.

“It is an honor to be able to name the Main Fire Station after Chief Curran. His family, friends and our community will always remember what a tremendously committed person Ed was to the City,” states Mayor Richard J. Kaplan.

Chief Curran was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and fought a heroic fight until he passed on September 30, 2014 at the young age of 53.  Chief left behind his beloved wife Pattie and two children.

“Chief Curran was a gentle soul and one of the kindest persons I ever knew. He shined best when he was serving others. He loved his job and had a work ethic that wouldn’t quit. With his name high on the Fire Station #57, a place he loved, he will always be remembered,” states Vice Mayor M. Margaret Bates.

Breakfast will be served on the second floor of the Fire Station immediately following the Renaming and Dedication Ceremony. If you plan on attending please RSVP with Indira Gosine at igosine@lauderhill-fl.gov or call her at 954-730-2950 by Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
