"The Suitcase" "ЧЕМОДАН"

Based on the work of Sergei Dovlatov

For the first time in America!
A stage production based on the iconic book "The Suitcase" by Sergei Dovlatov.

When leaving the Soviet Union for the U.S., the protagonist takes only a small suitcase.
Years later, he opens it — and finds objects that stir memories of his past.
Each item comes to life in a story — funny, bittersweet, and deeply touching.

These are stories of people, moments, and emotions that once filled his world.
Together, they form a vivid mosaic of Soviet-era life — familiar and deeply personal for many.

Dovlatov’s signature blend of wistful nostalgia, sharp wit, and subtle metaphor is brought to life by a stellar cast:
Aleksey Kortnev, Aleksey Agranovich, Semyon Treskunov, Aram Gyurjyan, and Nina Shkara infuse each story with warmth and authenticity.

And there’s another leading character on stage — the piano.
Its music flows through the hall, weaving together laughter and longing, turning simple stories into timeless reflections on love, friendship, and identity.

This play is about fitting a whole life into one suitcase — and holding onto the warmth of memory, even far from home.
It’s a reminder that in the hardest of times, we always carry something that makes us stronger: memory, love, and hope.
