Watering Restrictions Now Permanent in Broward County

A permanent twice-a-week landscape watering schedule is now in place in Broward County in an effort to conserve and protect local water resources. Broward County Commissioners unanimously passed an ordinance on Tuesday, January 12, that makes two-day per week, year-round landscape watering restrictions mandatory for County, city and private water customers

FREE CFL BULB GIVE-A-WAY

Through the Federal Energy Block Grant to Lauderhill, we are now proceeding with the 1st Phase of the Grant. We have purchased and will be distributing 10,000 FREE CFL BULBS to Lauderhill Residents. These bulbs collectively will save us over $145,000 in electrical costs/year and over 450,000 kilowatts/year. Each 13 watt bulb is equivalent to a regular 60 watt incandescent bulb, using 1/5 the energy and lasting 5-7 years.

To obtain your free bulb, go to City Hall, City of Lauderhill Recreation Centers, or Bowery Lighting located in Lauderhill at 4729 N. University Drive. We may also be distributing them at Community Meetings.  One sleeve per household. First come, first serve until fully distributed.
 

WATER SYSTEM CHLORINATION BEGINS ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2010 THROUGH JANUARY 31, 2010

The City of Lauderhill will temporarily be using a new procedure in its water system to better maintain the water. This preventive maintenance procedure will begin on Wednesday, January 20th at 12 a.m. and end on Sunday, January 31st, 2010 at 12:00 a.m..
 

Lauderhill College Scholarship Essay Application 2010

This Scholarship, provided by the City of Lauderhill, is open to all High School Seniors, who reside in Lauderhill during their senior year of high school, and will be attending a 2 or 4 year college or vocational school in the U.S. There are four $500 scholarships to be awarded, based upon submitting two essays, which will be reviewed by the Lauderhill Educational Advisory Committee.
 

Master Plan Task Force requests Resident Input on proposed Strategic Plan

The Master Plan Task Force, a group of residents appointed by the City Commission, has spent the past year developing a proposed Strategic Plan to set priorities for Lauderhill over the next five years. The Task Force requests that residents review the proposed Strategic Plan and provide comments. You can do so online at the link below or attend one of the public meetings scheduled during October and November, 2009 where the Task Force will present the plan and take comments.
 

CITY OF LAUDERHILL PROPOSED ONE-YEAR ACTION PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2010 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Pursuant to regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Lauderhill has developed this proposed One-Year Action Plan for fiscal year 2010. This document will serve as the City’s planning document for fiscal year 2009. Residents can click here to comment about this program.

Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) Application

Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2) application package submitted to US HUD and beginning of the period for the Solicitation of Public Comments. The City is applying for $10 million and is soliciting comments on its proposed application. The comment period is from June 29, 2009 to July23, 2009. Comments should be mailed to Jane Sullivan, Grant Manager, 3800 Inverrary Boulevard, Suite 306, Lauderhill, Florida 33319. 

The City of Lauderhill Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)

The City of Lauderhill has been approved to receive $4,293,288 in emergency assistance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).  Open enrollment for the Rehabilitation program will take September 14-24 between the hours of 8:00 AM-5:30 PM at 3800 Inverrary BLVD., Suite 211 Lauderhill, FL. 33319.

PUBLIC NOTICE : JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT 2009 LAUDERHILL POLICE DEPARTMENT

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE LAUDERHILL POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE $264,217.00 FROM THE RECOVERY ACT EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) FOR 2009.

NOTICE OF PROJECTED AMENDMENT TO Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG)

The City of Lauderhill is an entitlement recipient of federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). HUD developed the program under Title III of Division B of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. The Mayor and City Commissioners will consider adopting the Neighborhood Stabilization program (NSP) as a substantial amendment to the FY 2009 Action Plan.

The funds must be used in targeted areas of “greatest need’ within the City of Lauderhill for the purpose of acquiring, rehabilitating, redeveloping and the re-sale of “foreclosed/abandoned” properties. As a grantee, the City is required to submit a plan to HUD for the use of NSP funds as a substantial amendment to the City’s FY 2009 Action Plan no later than December 1, 2008. A draft of the NSP Plan can be viewed on our webpage at: www.lauderhill-fl.gov.

A 15-day public comment period will commence November 11, 2008 and end November 26, 2008. A copy of the NSP application can be viewed here. Or you may pick up a copy at the Office of the City Clerk located at 3800 Inverrary Boulevard; Suite 301; Lauderhill, Florida.

The Federal Recovery package : What's In It for Cities and How to Access the Resources

NLC will review the major provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which includes resources to create jobs through federal investments in our cities' transportation, water and sewer, housing, energy, education, and public safety infrastructure. City officials can learn up-to-date information on the timing and process for accessing these resources. NLC will also offer advice on key steps cities and towns can be taking to prepare for use of the funds.

Child Car Seats
