City of Lauderhill Police Application

Salary:

  • Police Trainee Salary(while attending the Police Academy): $48,500
  • Police Officer Salary: $54,386.00 - $85,671.00

  • The Lauderhill Police Department works a 2 week rotating schedule comprised of 12 hour shifts. This schedule equals a total of 84 hours worked in a 2 week period. This schedule gives each officer 7 days off in a 14 day cycle which allows the officer to enjoy additional time with family/friends but also allows ALL officers (regardless of seniority) to enjoy a 3 day weekend every other week.

Here is an example of a typical 2 week work schedule for an officer with the Lauderhill Police Department:

Pay and benefits are subject to change based on the collective bargaining agreement with the city and the police union.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be U.S Citizens
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D (G.E.D under Florida Education Standards)
  • Must not have been convicted or placed on deferred adjustment for any felony or misdemeanor involving perjury, false statement , drugs, or domestic violence
  • Must be of good moral character as determined by the Department and by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Other Requirements:
  • If applicant served in the military they must have been Honorably Discharged (copy of the DD214 must accompany the application)
  • Must possess good reading comprehension, writing, and communication skills
  • Must be able to pass an extensive pre-employment screening and background investigation
  • Must pass a seven panel drug test
Hiring Process:
  • Pre-Application Testing:
    • CJBAT test
    • Swim Test
    • Physical Agility
  • Tests are administered by the Academy Testing Center at the Institute of Public safety located at Broward College.

    Passing test results must be included with your completed employment application.       

  • Application - The following are required with your completed employment application:
    • 10 Year Detailed Social Security Report (Required to submit upon passing initial background check and interview)
    • Birth Certificate
    • High School Diploma or GED (Transcripts Required if Submitting GED)
    • College Degree(s), if applicable
    • College Transcripts (CertiAcademy Testing center http://www.broward.edu/academics/programs/ips/Pages/testingcenter.aspxfied/Sealed Only)
    • All Marriage Certificates (Issued by State or County, NOT Church Documents)
    • All Divorce Documents (Original Petition and Final Decrees)
    • Adoption or Legal Name Change, if applicable
    • DD-214 Form (Each Branch Served)
    • Driver’s License
    • Copy of Passport
    • Social Security Card
    • Naturalization Papers
    • Current Auto Insurance Card
    • Complete Driver’s History (Obtained from the Courthouse Traffic Division)
    • Basic Training Certificate from DJSTC or State of Florida Certification, Certified
    • Police In-Service Certificate, Certified
    • Bankruptcy Papers (Copy of Original and Final Decree, if applicable)
    • Complete Tax Returns for the Last Year
    • Current CJBAT Test Results, non-certified only
    • Swim Test Results, non-certified only
    • Agility Test, non-certified only
  • Post Application Testing:
    • Oral Interview
    • Polygraph Examination
    • Psychological Examination
    • Medical Examination and Drug Screen
    • Comprehensive Background Investigation
