What is C.I.T.?

The Courtesy Inspection Team (C.I.T.) is a specialized group established by the City of Lauderhill to further support the City’s core value of making the City a secure, clean, and desirable place to live, work and visit.

Why do we have C.I.T.? 

Everyone wants to live in a "nice" area. However, there may be times that you have driven through other communities and wondered why things have been allowed to run down. The C.I.T. program was established to assist the City of Lauderhill in keeping this from happening. A little effort by you and your neighbors will ensure that our standards stay high. 

How does C.I.T. work?

C.I.T. members will routinely visit different neighborhoods throughout the community to observe appearance conditions. Team members will be checking for street conditions, unsightly buildings, trash and debris, unkept landscaping, and the like. If everything looks okay, individual residents will be given "Courtesy Notices" to let them know that they are doing a good job. Courtesy notices will also be used to let someone know if a problem is observed. 

Those who receive courtesy notices that indicate appearance or code violation problems will be given time to make corrections. If problems persist, it may be necessary to refer them to Code Enforcement officers who will issue code violation notices. 

When and Where will C.I.T. members appear? 

Each month, a different section of the City will be randomly selected for a visit by C.I.T. members. Signs will be posted in the area to advise that C.I.T. visits will soon be taking place (approximately 2 weeks in advance). Once an area is covered and courtesy notices have been delivered, C.I.T. members will return in approximately two weeks to check on the progress. 

Who are the C.I.T. members? 

C.I.T. members will come from Fire Prevention, the Building Department, Code Enforcement, D.E.E.S., and Occupational Licensing, specially trained to identify and refer infrastructure and neighborhood appearance concerns within the City.
