NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2012
Notice is hereby
given that a General Election will be held in the City of
Lauderhill, Florida, on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, for the purpose
of electing one each, at large, for the following seats:
Seat #1 Commissioner
four (4) year term
Seat #2 Commissioner four (4) year term
Seat #3 Commissioner four (4) year term
Persons seeking
election may qualify with the City Clerk from 12:00 noon, Monday,
June 4, 2012 until 12:00 noon, Friday, June 8, 2012 at City Hall,
5581 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Suite 421, Lauderhill, Florida.
All qualified electors of the City of Lauderhill, whose names appear
in the registration books of the Office of the Supervisor of
Elections of Broward County, Florida, will be eligible to vote
in said elections. The registration books shall close on Tuesday,
October 9, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Absentee voting shall be permitted
through the Broward County Office of the Supervisor of Elections.
The election shall be held in accordance with the Charter of the
City of Lauderhill, Florida, and the State of Florida Election Laws.

HOW TO BECOME A CANDIDATE
Form DS-DE 9,
Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign
Depository for Candidates shall be filed with the filing officer
(City Clerk) PRIOR to opening the campaign account.
Form DS-DE 9 is not effective until campaign treasurer signs and it
is filed with filing officer
Form DS-DE 9 It is not considered filed upon mailing, but only upon
receipt by the filing officer.
Form DS-DE 9 Form shall be on file with the filing officer prior to
the candidate accepting any contributions or making any
expenditures, or authorizing another to accept contributions or make
expenditures on the person’s behalf.
Form DS-DE 84, Statement of Candidate MUST be filed with filing
officer within 10 days after filing the Form DS-DE 9 stating that
candidate has received, read and understands the requirements of
Chapter 106, F.S.

ARTICLE VII. QUALIFICATIONS AND ELECTIONS
Section 7.01. Nonpartisan elections.
All qualifications and elections for the office of commissioner
shall be conducted on a nonpartisan basis without regard for or
designation of political party affiliation of any nominee or any
nomination petition or ballot.

Section 7.02. Procedure for becoming a candidate.
Candidates for elective office shall qualify for such office by the
filing of a written notice of candidacy with the city clerk and
payment of a filing fee which shall be set by ordinance. A candidate
for elective office must be a resident of the city for a period of
not less than six (6) months prior to the date upon which he or she
would be elected to the office for which he or she is a candidate.
